SMA Female crimp connector commonly used in cellular systems. This connector is optimal for use with an LMR-400, Belden 9913, RG8 coaxial cable or similar cable with an outer jacket diameter of 10,3 mm and a dielectric diameter of 7.4 mm. Since the SMA connector was originally designed for small diameter cables, the LMR400 is one of the thickest coaxial cables suitable for this connector.
The impedance of 50 ohms ensures compatibility with other components of the RF systems. The metal housing makes the connector resistant to mechanical damage.
The installation of the connector requires a special crimping tool. The central contact of the connector (pin) is soldered to the central core of the cable. This significantly improves the quality of signal transmission and the insensitivity of the assembled connector to vibrations.
Special tools, as well as soldering and crimping skills, are required to assemble the connector and mount it on the LMR 400 cable. Soldering and crimping provide better contact quality and, thus, good signal transmission and durability than screw connectors. Importantly, the SMA Female connector is supplied with a heat shrink tube to protect the connector from moisture and dust.
